About Us

Place of Progress specialises in providing trauma informed accommodation based services for vulnerable individuals and families. Our staff have a genuine sense of purpose and are passionate about improving the outcomes of individuals and families accessing our services.

With years of professional experience within the Social Care sector, we are determined to offer the highest standard of support and assist our service users to achieve outcomes that are positive and sustainable in the long term.

We offer two types of provision;

  • Semi-independent supported housing for Care Leavers aged between 16 and 24 years old, experiencing complex trauma and additional support needs.

  • OFSTED registered placements for families whose ability to respond to their children needs are being monitored and assessed.

We have high aspirations for the young people and families we support and approach our work in a way that reduces the occurrence of re-traumatisation, integrating a trauma informed approach into our policies, procedures and practice.

Our highly experienced and skilled teams consist of dedicated Managers, Support Workers, an Integrative Therapist and we work closely with partner agencies and stakeholders to ensure all support needs are met.

Our Mission

To reduce re-traumatisation by adopting a trauma informed approach in our policies, procedures and practice.

Our Vision

Place of Progress’ vision is of a society where those accessing services are treated with dignity, compassion and respect by all those they come into contact with.

Our Values

Perseverance – never giving up on people.

We are committed to working with young people and families who are often seen as too complex for other services and are deprived of the time and investment required to achieve positive outcomes. We know that our aims can be best met through collaboration with other agencies and foster partnerships to achieve this.

Optimism – high aspirations and expectations for all.

We believe that everyone can achieve goals if afforded the right environment and opportunities and therefore set high aspirations and expectations for all of our services users, treating them with dignity and respect. Building up their skills, capabilities and positive social networks, can prevent needs increasing leading to more acute and costly services. We take individual needs and capabilities into account and tailor our support accordingly.

Professional, skilled and compassionate.

All staff working for Place of Progress, whether paid or voluntary, are committed to working professionally, with compassion, prepared to challenge, but also nurture. All of our teams are educated, skilled and well trained to provide safe and therapeutic environments. Staff are trusted to make decisions in the best interest of the individual.

Our Services

All of our provisions are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and focus primarily on preparing young people and families to progress towards independence whilst accessing advice and support from qualified and experienced staff.

Etana House

Supported Housing for Care Leavers

We provide a safe place to call home for young people leaving care and who still require support in relation to their trauma, mental health, substance use, offending behaviour, social networks and exclusion from education.

Leaving care can be a challenging time for young people and along with the responsibilities of living independently, make this a particularly vulnerable period.

Etana House offers comfortable homely accommodation with shared facilities, 1:1 key worker support and pathway planning. Support sessions are tailored to meet individual needs and all referrals are risk assessed to ensure that our provision is suitable for their needs and will not adversely impact on existing residents.

Our aim is to ensure that every young person who accesses our service feels happy, safe and settled during their stay and empowered to make a success of the transition into adulthood.
